It's sad to see the continued escalation. I don't think either China or the EU will gain anything if this escalates into a full-blown trade war but it increasingly looks like that is where things are headed

Beijing knows what it must do to avoid all this. DG Trade has told them over and over again. Level playing field, equal trade.

It takes two to tango. DG Trade is not in a position to unilaterally declare the terms of a bilateral trade relationship. If there is a genuine case of unfair trading policies to be made then why not take China to the WTO and settle it there?

China is ready for economic war. Meanwhile, Europe is shrinking economically.

Perhaps the EU is finally realizing the manufacturing that China has been stealing from it. One of the stronger talking points of Trump here. We cannot continue to patronize a country whose government essentially owns all the factories and everything those factories make at the same time subsidizing the manufacturing, thereby artifically suppress its prices; or worse, use slave labor to make those items. Now add to the mix the implementation of AI powerd robotics, putting even their own masses out of work. If we can't bring the factories back here or to the EU, at least get the work done by those countries, like the Philippines or India, who aren't espousing to dominate and rule us but work with us harmoniously.

Good luck Xi in Paris in early May, convincing Macron to turn the tide.

First they use the DSA to fight freedom of opinion & the press, then they encroach on protected property by stealing Russian assets, and now they destroy the principle of entrepreneurial freedom. Can someone explain which "values" the EU still intends to defend from its "enemies"?

Let me get this straight. Brussels is acting against foreign actors as a matter of trade security but Georgia acting against Foreign political actors is brutal Russian style dictatorship?
